UPS On a Dirt Road: GET OUT OF THE WAY!!
Living 4 miles off of the interstate on a dirt road, and representing rural real estate all over the 5th largest county (by area) in the USA, I have many, many dirt-road-driving miles under my belt. BUT I've got NOTHING on the delivery drivers as far as speed! The hard-working people who bid on these routes are paid by the route, and their days are LONG, so when the weather is clear, they FLY down the roads. Rooster tails of dirt usually announce their impending presence long before you see them. My own habit now is to just pull off to the side when I see that big plume of dust headed my way. It's easy to skid around a corner on loose dirt, I'm just never in as much of a hurry as they are, and I truly appreciate their willingness to drive my package to my rural doorstep!! So if you see them coming, my suggestion is to pull to the side, say a silent 'good job!' as they fly by, and have a safe day!
Note: photo not mine--mine would have a MUCH bigger dust plume!
